Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida's 19th district, shared his activities on April 11, 2025, in a series of tweets highlighting his participation in a significant community event and legislative efforts. Donalds first reflected on his team's attendance at a Naturalization Ceremony, celebrating new United States citizens. On this occasion, he emphasized the value of legal immigration as a pivotal asset to the nation, stating, "LEGAL IMMIGRATION is one of our greatest assets and these individuals followed all of our laws/ procedures to become citizens THE RIGHT WAY. Welcome to Florida and welcome to our proud American Family!"
Later on the same day, Donalds announced the introduction of his 14th bill in the 119th Congress, aimed at enhancing economic opportunities for small businesses and banks. He explained, "Specifically, HR 2835 will raise the consolidated asset threshold of Bank Holding Companies to qualify as Small Bank Holding Companies from $3B to $25B." This legislation reflects his focus on facilitating greater access to financial resources and investment for smaller financial institutions and entrepreneurs.
Further elaborating on this legislative initiative, Donalds expressed gratitude towards his colleagues for their support. He noted, "Thank you to @RepHaridopolos for your co-leadership of this initiative & thank you @RepFrankLucas for your support. The American Dream is for ALL AMERICANS, & with increased access to capital for small banks & small businesses, what once were just dreams will now become REALITY." These acknowledgments underscore the collaborative efforts in Congress to advance economic empowerment and opportunity.
Born in Brooklyn, New York City in 1978, Donalds, now residing in Naples, has been a member of Congress since 2021, succeeding Francis Rooney. He has served in the political arena since his tenure in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.
