All interested members of the public are invited to attend a public information meeting on the Davis Boulevard Landscape Beautification Project (Santa Barbara Boulevard to Collier Boulevard) from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 14 at the Collier Area Transit Administration Office, Lobby, 8300 Radio Road, Naples, FL 34104. The meeting will be conducted in an informal, open house setting with no formal presentation. Attendees may attend at any time during the two-hour time frame.
Florida Department of Transportation grants of approximately $965,000 have been obtained to help fund the design and installation of landscape and irrigation components to support the plantings along 2.5 miles of Davis Boulevard between Santa Barbara Boulevard to Collier Boulevard. Road Maintenance Division Landscape Operations staff and their consultant, McGee and Associates, want to provide community members with an opportunity to review the potential landscape materials and placement of those materials along the roadway. Attendees may review the project displays and talk one-on-one with the project team regarding any questions. (A diagram showing the study location and public meeting location is at the end of this release.)
In addition, to enhance the landscaping, improve the plant palette, increase resiliency, reduce water consumption, fertilizer usage, and maintenance cycles of this landscaping project staff is collaborating with a Florida not-for-profit entity, Naples Botanical Garden, Inc. This effective, no cost resource to the county is assisting with achieving a greater diversity of low-maintenance, regionally appropriate plant material.
Currently plans are to start installation of landscape for this project the first quarter of 2023 and completion is expected in approximately six months.
Two or more members of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) may be present and participate at this meeting. The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future BCC meeting.
