Byron Donalds, a Congressman representing Florida's 19th district, recently shared several updates on Twitter regarding significant policy changes and legislative actions. Donalds, who has been serving in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Francis Rooney, has expressed strong opinions on the current administration's policies and recent congressional decisions.

On January 22, 2025, Congressman Byron Donalds announced that "1,500 active duty troops will be sent to the Southern border by the end of January," increasing the total number of troops at the border to 4,000. He described this situation as a "NATIONAL EMERGENCY" and criticized the Biden administration's handling of what he termed as the "Biden Border Crisis." He asserted that under former President Trump's administration, such an invasion would not occur. "BREAKING: 1,500 active duty troops will be sent to the Southern border by the end of January."

Later that day, Donalds commented on a reversal of a policy from the Biden administration regarding COVID-19 vaccination guidelines for immigrants. He stated that legal immigrants faced deportation for not adhering to these guidelines while illegal aliens were able to ignore them without consequence. He welcomed this change as a return to common sense policies. "Another nonsensical Biden admin policy has been OFFICIALLY REVERSED."

In another update on January 22, 2025, Donalds reported that the House had passed S.5–The Laken Riley Act. This legislation aims to ensure that all criminal illegal immigrants are arrested, detained, and eventually repatriated. Despite its passage in the House and its advancement to become law with presidential approval pending, Donalds noted that 156 Democrats voted against it.
