Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida's 19th district, has been actively involved in legislative efforts to improve water resource management. On December 11, 2024, he shared several key developments regarding water conservation and protection initiatives.

In a tweet posted on December 11, 2024, Congressman Donalds emphasized the importance of water to the Southwest Florida community and the state of Florida. He announced that "S. 4367 – 'The Water Resources Development Act' has PASSED the House with various key legislative wins proposed by me & my team."

On the same day, he highlighted another legislative achievement concerning natural water filtration solutions. Donalds tweeted about encouraging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to support oyster gardens development across America as a means of natural water filtration: "DONALDS LEGISLATIVE WIN: Water Filtration Solutions Language encouraging the @USACEHQ to support the development of oyster gardens as a natural water filtration source across America."

Additionally, Congressman Donalds addressed harmful algal bloom (HAB) mitigation strategies in his legislative agenda. In another tweet from December 11, 2024, he stated: "DONALDS LEGISLATIVE WIN: Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Mitigation Language to expand the HAB Demonstration Program to include the Lake Okeechobee Watershed–This will reduce nutrient flow from above Lake O. Language to deem the Caloosahatchee River as a focus area relating to HABs."
