Byron Donalds, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida's 19th district, has recently taken to social media to discuss his legislative efforts and priorities. Donalds, who succeeded Francis Rooney in 2021, has been active in promoting various initiatives aimed at benefiting his constituents and addressing critical issues.

On December 4, 2024, Congressman Donalds expressed gratitude towards the coalition of nationwide organizations that have endorsed the FISHES Act. He stated: "Thank you to the diverse coalition of nationwide organizations that have endorsed the FISHES Act. Thank you to the vast number of bipartisan members from across the nation who cosponsored this bill. This overwhelming support demonstrates the vital need for passage of H.R. 5103."

Later on December 4, Donalds emphasized his commitment to water quality issues affecting Southwest Florida. He noted: "Water quality distinctly impacts our Southwest Florida community & is a top legislative priority of mine. Today, I met with representatives from @SFWMD & @FLDEPNews. Together, we discussed issues regarding Southwest Florida water quality & the ongoing response to Hurricane Ian."

On December 5, Donalds highlighted the importance of timely disaster relief for fisheries across Florida and the nation: "Fisheries throughout Southwest Florida, the Sunshine State, and the nation deserve the ability to receive critical disaster relief in a timely manner. This isn't hard." He also referenced an article by SeafoodSource on this topic.
