Last week, Congressman Byron Donalds announced the introduction of several bills and amendments as part of his legislative efforts in Congress. The focus was on nuclear energy and financial services.

Donalds introduced the 16th through 20th bills of his 2023-24 Nuclear Energy Package. These bills aim to facilitate the licensing and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors, reduce costs, streamline processes, and provide regulatory clarity. They also include a proposal encouraging airports to consider using microreactors for backup power during natural disasters.

In addition to nuclear energy initiatives, Donalds proposed legislation enabling companies to exclude environmental, social, and political shareholder proposals. "The collusion between social and corporate activists to abuse our proxy system by flooding corporate boards with immaterial, politically motivated proposals is absurd and must end," said Donalds.

Donalds also put forward three new amendments related to transportation that received bipartisan support in the House of Representatives. These amendments involve creating a voluntary apprenticeship program at Part 141 Flight Schools across America, encouraging the use of drones for inspection operations, and evaluating emergency response plans at FAA-certified airports.

During a hearing with IRS whistleblowers Shapley and Ziegler in the Oversight & Accountability Committee, Donalds questioned witnesses about ties between Hunter Biden and payments to prostitutes. He stated that investigations found over $10 million received by the Bidens from Ukraine, Romania, and China.

Additionally, Donalds engaged with community activities such as touring anti-pollution measures at an ACS plant in Fort Myers and attending a life jacket loaning station ribbon-cutting event in Naples.

"Serving the hardworking men and women of Florida's 19th Congressional District is my distinct honor," said Donalds.
