Maria Rooney, a Naples resident and member of the Ave Maria parish, said Vice President Kamala Harris' remarks on young people in America are "patronizing" to youth, who are typically the target demographic for Democrat candidates.

"Even when understanding the full context of this speech, this statement is patronizing to a youth like me," Rooney said. "It's ironic that Kamala would say this, yet know that the young voting body is what is helping her and the rest of the Democratic Party in this upcoming election!"

A video of Kamala Harris speaking about college students has recently gone viral. In this public address, Harris states, “What else do we know about this population, eighteen through twenty-four? They are stupid!”

“That is why we put them in dormitories and they have a resident assistant,” Harris continued on. “They make really bad decisions.”

Vice President Kamala Harris was endorsed by President Joe Biden when he announced he was dropping out of the Presidential race on July 21. She is now endorsed by many political leaders within the democratic party to be the presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Race.

The Democratic party is known for being a party that wants to help young adults; they push student loan forgiveness, feminism, and so-called equal opportunity. An April poll from Harvard University showed 18-29 year old favoring the Democrat party over Republican party 45% to 37%.

Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President, claims to be a person who “always fights for the people” does not seem to value the young adults entering the workforce in our country. Before being elected as Vice President, Harris served as the District Attorney of San Francisco, the Attorney General of California, and as a U.S. Senator from California.
