Following two years of online competition, CSN MS Mathletes were excited to return to a live and in-person MATHCOUNTS Chapter competition in Fort Myers on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Over 100 students from 12 local schools competed as individuals and teams. When the top 10 students were announced, five of them were CSN students! Congratulations to Nick Barac ’28 (4th place), Nash Sterett ‘28 (6th place), John Fontana ‘29 (7th ), Luc Gordon ‘28 (8th ), and Stella Massoll ‘28 (9th). CSN’s top team of Nick, John, Luc, and Ariana Sharma ‘29 earned 2nd place in the team competition. To top it all off, CSN Mathletes took 1st place among all schools in the ciphering round of the competition. The ciphering round challenges students to be first to ring in with correct answers to challenging problems. CSN MS Mathletes frequently challenge themselves in this way in class and during two-hour Saturday practice sessions, giving us an advantage in this format. Our team will now travel to Orlando for the State competition on March 9-10.
