Neighborhood Health Clinic Founder Receives Health Equity Award Posthumously

Neighborhood Health Clinic Founder Nancy Lascheid, BSN, RN, was honored by the Robert Wood Johnson Family Foundation with the Award for Health Equity posthumously during the Celebration of Life held in her honor in Naples on November 11, 2022. (Photo available upon request).

“To be recognized on a national level is an honor for both Founder Nancy Lascheid and the Clinic,” shares CEO Leslie Lascheid. “While we wish Nancy had been with us to receive the award, we know her legacy lives on as we remain committed to her vision to ‘be here for and because of the community’.”

Florida Senator Kathleen Passidomo presented the award to Clinic Board Member and lifelong friend of the charity Vince Foglia during the memorial event by stating, “Generally, when we give awards out, the recipient is in the room. And, she is. Nancy is with us. I spoke with a number of members of the Clinic who say she is there. They know she is there. They feel her, they see her. Her legacy and spirit lives on.”

According to the Foundation, the Award for Health Equity “celebrates individuals who have changed systems and policies at a local level to increase the chance that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to live the healthiest life possible” and supports national membership organizations in fields like public health and social justice, education, community development and philanthropy.

Foundation CEO Nicole Lamoreux originally presented the award, and corresponding grant, to Clinic CEO Leslie Lascheid during the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics conference in October, but was unable to attend the Celebration of Life.
