5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
All interested members of the public are invited to attend a public information meeting on the Golden Gate Parkway over Santa Barbara Canal Bridge Replacement Project from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26 at Golden Gate Community Center Auditorium, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, Naples, FL 34116. The meeting will be held in an “open house” format (attend anytime) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. There will not be a formal presentation. Attendees may review the project displays and talk one-on-one with the construction and design team members.
All interested community members are encouraged to attend to have an opportunity to meet the county’s contractor, Thomas Marine Construction, Inc., and obtain input on the construction plans. The contractor, who plans to start removing the old bridges and building the new bridge in October, will share the construction schedule and attendees will learn how traffic will be maintained and managed during construction. The existing four-lane bridge (two eastbound travel lanes and two westbound travel lanes) was originally constructed in 1971. It is nearing the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced.
Two adjacent existing pedestrian bridges installed in 2008 will also be removed and the new bridge will include two 12-foot-wide sidewalks, one in each direction. These improvements are anticipated to enhance mobility and maintain connectivity for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians. Approximately one year is expected to be needed for the construction. The estimated bridge replacement cost is $3.9 million which includes design, permitting, engineering inspection services and construction.
Two or more members of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) may be present and participate at this meeting. The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future BCC meeting. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or other reasonable accommodations to participate in this proceeding, should contact the Collier County Facilities Management Division located at 3335 Tamiami Trail E., Suite 101, Naples, Florida 34112, or 239-252-8380 as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event. Such reasonable accommodations will be provided at no cost to the individual.
