Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk will kick off the 39thf annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on Friday.
Members of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Naples Police Department and Marco Island Police Department will put their best feet forward as they take to the streets for the Collier County leg of the event. They will be joined by local Special Olympics athletes.
“For more than 30 years the Collier County Sheriff’s Office has participated in the annual spring torch run to bring awareness and support to Florida Special Olympics,” Sheriff Rambosk said.
The 4.8-mile run is set to begin at 7:45 a.m. with remarks by Sheriff Rambosk at the Collier County Law Enforcement Memorial in front of CCSO Headquarters, 3319 U.S. 41 E. Runners will then proceed to the City of Naples Police Department and finish at Publix Super Market in Naples Plaza, 1981 U.S. 41 N. Vehicles will be trailing the runners in case they need assistance.
The initiative is taking place all over Florida leading to the Special Olympics games in May in Orlando.
