Marco Island Police would like to warn our community of potential Ukraine relief fundraising scams. Please take a moment to review some helpful tips.
Be wary of requests to wire money or send gift cards.
Contact an organization you donated to in the past for guidance.
Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments in unsolicited emails or social media messages.
Be skeptical of social media posts that promote a charity unless you verify that the organization is legitimate.
Don't give in to undue pressure, fraudsters will attempt to use the situation's urgency for rushing you into donating.
