Nch

NCH Healthcare System recently issued the following announcement.

NCH Healthcare System is proud to announce that we are a recipient of the Healthgrades 2021 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award, placing it in the top 5% of hospitals evaluated for overall women’s care. This achievement recognizes NCH for providing exceptional care to women during and after childbirth and to women undergoing gynecologic procedures.

Additionally, NCH is a recipient of the Healthgrades 2021 Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™. This distinction places NCH in the top 5% of all hospitals evaluated and recognizes the exceptional care provided to mothers during and after labor and delivery,

“Quality care delivered with an exceptional patient experience has always been a top priority at NCH,” said Paul Hiltz, President & CEO of the NCH Healthcare System. “I couldn’t be more proud of the staff of the NCH BirthPlace for their dedication to the women of our community and for making this recognition possible.”

“Now more than ever, consumers understand the importance of taking control of their health and this means finding the right hospital with the most favorable outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “Women who seek care at a hospital that has achieved these Healthgrades 2021 awards for excellence can have confidence in the organization’s commitment to delivering superior care.”

From 2017 through 2019, if all hospitals included in Healthgrades’ analysis performed similarly to NCH who received the Healthgrades Labor and Delivery Excellence Award, 138,318 patients with complications could potentially have been avoided*. During that same time period, patients had, on average, a 41.7% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in a Healthgrades recognized hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award*.

Also, during this time, if all hospitals in the analysis performed similarly to those that received the Healthgrades 2021 Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award like NCH did, 155,179 patients with complications could have potentially been avoided.* Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award had, on average, a 37% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award*.

*Statistics are based on Healthgrades’ analysis of all-payer data for years 2017 through 2019 and represent 3-year estimates for patients in 16 states for which all-payer data was made available.
