Experts will divulge tips for a win-win
Negotiation is all about building relationships and cultivating a good rapport that leads to win-win solutions for all involved. Experts at the upcoming Above Board Chamber of Florida luncheons will share valuable tips on the skills needed to be a top negotiator for your business. The Naples luncheon will be on Monday, August 8 at the Hilton, 5111 Tamiami Trail N., followed by one in Fort Myers on Thursday, August 11 at the Crowne Plaza Bell Tower, 13051 Bell Tower Dr. Both luncheons will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Carolie Burroughs, Chief Investment Officer at SBC Investment Management, a Fort Myers panelist and sponsor, says negotiation comes into play for a lot of business people, and she is eager to share some pro tips. “When it comes to negotiation, really it is about ways to develop trust in people in order to gain influence,” she said.
Bill Daubmann, Owner of MY Shower Door / D3 Glass, is a Naples panelist with a wealth of information to share. “By asking questions you find out what the customer’s hot button is,” Daubmann stressed. “Price might not be the number one thing; the hot button might be a quick turnaround time. Ask questions instead of just compromising right off the bat, and you will come up with a better solution.”
Howard Isaacson, Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Communities, Inc. & Emmanuel Academies, Inc. will be the emcee and sponsor at the Naples event. Ben Miller, Insurance Agent at Chapman Insurance Group, will also sponsor the event.
Panelists include:
- Tim Dupre, President & CEO of PBS Contractors;
- Bill Daubmann, Owner of My Shower Door;
- Dave Collins, Executive Mortgage Loan Officer at Lake Michigan Credit Union, and Board of Directors at Lee Health;
- Peter Wasmer, Founder & CEO Pure Coastal Technologies, Inc. and
- Matt Chionis, Realtor at Gulf Coast International Properties.
“In such uncertain times, the art of negotiating is the skill that will set you apart and will give your clients the service they deserve,” Chionis explained.
Keith A. Veres, Director of Corporate Finance at HBK CPAs & Consultants/Financial, who will emcee the Fort Myers luncheon says, “Try to avoid negotiating against yourself.” He adds, “Instead of presenting your best proposal upfront, be thoughtful and diligent to understand what is most important to the other party and craft your position with an emphasis on that item or issue. This approach will show the other party that you understand their requirements and may allow them to bend in other ways that are important to you.”
Audrey Colbert-Lovell, Mortgage Loan Originator – MVM/Cardinal Financial Company is also a sponsor for the Fort Myers event.
Panelists include:
- Carolie Burroughs, Chief Investment Officer at SBC Investment Management;
- Kevin Ruane, Commissioner District One, Lee County, Florida at Lee County and
- Abe Thornburg, Chief/Office Head for the State Attorney Office in Hendry County.
