It was an exciting week for the CSN girls and boys Varsity tennis teams!
After winning the District Championships last week, both boys and girls teams took to the courts on Tuesday at the Regional Championships semifinals against Evangelical Christian School (girls) and Cardinal Mooney Catholic School (boys). Both teams were victorious and advanced to the Regional Championship finals held at CSN on Thursday. Both teams faced the tennis powerhouse, St. Stephens Episcopal School from Bradenton. The boys played tough, with the first singles match going to a tiebreaker after two grueling sets, but ultimately were unable to secure the team win. However, Rocco DiDonato ‘24 will still move on to States to compete for the #1 singles title, and his teammate Este Cadiou ‘24, will join him to fight for the #1 doubles title next week in Orlando.
The girls, many facing their toughest opponents of the season, fought for each point and came out decisive winners! This win in the Regional Championship finals secured the girls Varsity team a spot to compete at the State Championship. Lily Dounchis ‘23, Sophia Min ‘23, Nadia Sondrini ‘25, Lily Graham ‘28, Bonita Perez ‘24 and Stephanie Nichols ’25 will travel to Orlando next week. Congratulations to all and GO SEAHAWKS!
