Staff needed at River Park Aquatic Center - Hours of operation temporarily changed

4

City of Naples recently issued the following announcement.

On March 14, 2022, the City of Naples Community Services Department (CSD) made the decision to temporarily modify the hours of operation at the River Park Aquatic Center

(RPAC). While a difficult choice, recent staffing issues has pushed administration to implement the reduction in hours until staffing vacancies are filled. These vacancies include

part-time lifeguards, front desk personnel, and one full-time staff position. Positions have been posted for months, with the addition of recent openings due to current staff leaving

for school or full-time work. Very few applications have been received and there is great concern with future operation if this trend continues. Hour reductions were based on the

“slowest” times and days statistically. The temporary changes in the hours of operation are as follows:

Monday - 7:30am-6pm (Previously 7am-6pm) – Hours include early/late lap swim by membership

Tuesday - 10am-5pm (No Change)

Wednesday - 7:30am-6pm (Previously 7am-6pm) – Hours include early/late lap swim by membership

Thursday - 10am-5pm (No Change)

Friday - 10am-5pm (No Change)

Saturday - 12-5pm (No Change)

Sunday - Closed (Previously 12-5pm)

In efforts to remediate future staffing issues at RPAC, the CSD Administration is working with staff to enhance the lifeguard program, outreach, and recruiting measures. One

method is to offer lifeguard training, with the option to be reimbursed 100% upon successful completion and selection for employment at the RPAC. Lifeguarding is a skill that, once

acquired, will positively impact a person’s life and their community, as well as provide them an experience that will aid them in their future endeavors. Qualified and/or interested

candidates should contact Mercy Puente, Park Manager, or Tenequa Smith, Aquatic Supervisor for more information at (239) 213-3037. “Our staff are dedicated to this community

and seeing the smiles on families’ faces while they enjoy the facility makes it all worth it!” - Tenequa Smith, Aquatic Supervisor.

The mission of the City of Naples CSD is to serve the community as a whole.  The City welcomes all people regardless of gender, age, ability, or socio-economic status. We

encourage participation in programs to all community members to promote health, wellness, social skills, leadership training, discipline, personal welfare, and special abilities. The

City believes that recreation is essential to any well-rounded individual and can enhance the life of anyone that participates.
