Celebrating Dr. Kamela Patton and CCPS Success

4

Gulf Coast High School recently issued the following announcement.

In honor of Collier County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kamela Patton being a finalist for National Superintendent of the Year, each day this week, CCPS plans to share with our community five reasons why our school district is receiving national recognition. This is, of course, in addition to Dr. Patton being named Florida Superintendent of the Year for 2022.

(February 21, 2022) CCPS GRADUATION RATE

Today, we begin with a spotlight on the high percentage of seniors who graduate CCPS in four years. Under Patton’s leadership, the CCPS graduation rate increased 20.1 percentage points, moving from 72.5% in FY 2011 to 92.6% for FY 2021. In the coming days, additional facts related to our #CCPSSuccess will be featured on our social media pages (@collierschools) and on our website.

(February 22, 2022) COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Today, we recognize the value of our community partners: non-profit organizations, law enforcement, local government agencies, healthcare agencies, and businesses. They support our schools and students in many ways, such as through mental health programs, scholarships, safe campuses, work-based learning opportunities, and so much more! Thank you to our more than 100 community partners for contributing to our #CCPSSuccess.

(February 23, 2022) ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITIES

One of the five reasons why our school district is receiving national recognition can be attributed to access and opportunities. Across all 50+ traditional public schools, Dr. Patton has made sure students have access to high-quality teaching and learning, well-maintained campuses, and opportunities in a wide range of arts, academic, and athletic competitions. Collier County covers a large area of 2,300 square miles, including several geographically isolated areas. Ensuring access and opportunities is challenging — but necessary — to ensure all students graduate high school and are college, career, and life ready.

(February 24, 2022) INSTRUCTIONAL, NON-INSTRUCTIONAL, AND SUPPORT STAFF

Today, we honor our 7,000 instructional, non-instructional, and support staff members. Your expert knowledge, dedication, and student-first approach are all reasons for our collective #CCPSSuccess. You make a positive mark on countless lives in classrooms, school and district offices, buses, cafeterias, and everywhere across Collier County Public Schools. Thank you!

(February 25, 2022) SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAMS

Today, we spotlight the significant role of school leadership teams: comprised of the school principal, assistant principal(s), instructional coaches, counselors, and other selected staff members. School leadership teams synergize in the summer and throughout the year to think creatively about how to improve academic achievement, school culture, and create memorable moments for students and staff. These teams are evidence that collectively we are greater than the sum of our individual roles.  Thank you for leading our #CCPSSuccess!
