Florida Gulf Coast University Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 20.
The FGCU men's tennis team will head to Gainesville this weekend to compete in the ITA Southeast Regionals, hosted by the University of Florida.
Qualification begins on Thursday where redshirt-sophomores Marcelo Sepulveda (Monterrey, Mexico/Penn Foster/Alabama) and Guglielmo Stefanacci (Prato, Italy/International School of Florence) will look to earn a spot in the main draw of the doubles competition that gets started on Friday.
Redshirt-junior Pedro Maciel (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Goliath Academy) will also have to earn his way into the main draw as he will play in singles qualification on Thursday.
In doubles, Maciel and redshirt-sophomore Randy Wilson (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Miami Palmetto/Louisville) will go right through to the main draw on Friday. The duo will be one of the top seeds as they are ranked #22 in the ITA Preseason Rankings.
In singles, Wilson, Sepulveda, Stefanacci, and redshirt-sophomore Juan Lopez (Gachancipa, Colombia/Colegio Virtual Siglo XXI) will begin in the main draw on Friday as well.
Action taking place on Courts 1-6 will have live video and scoring if weather permits.
Updated information regarding draws will be available here and will be updated throughout the weekend.
Other teams competing include Florida, Georgia, Central Florida, South Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida State, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Mercer, North Florida, and Stetson.
