Sugden Regional Park Receives New Trees and Plants as Part of Local Project

Collier

Collier County recently issued the following announcement.

Sugden Regional Park is now the home of many new trees and xerophytic plants, courtesy of a $64,445 grant from the Community Foundation of Collier County Collier Tree Project in partnership with Naples Botanical Gardens and Collier County Parks and Recreation division.

Collier County Parks and Recreation strives to enhance the park system and seek public and private partnerships to capitalize on needed resources and great partners. These partnerships will elevate visitors’ park experience while growing community relationships.

The new installment of vegetation to East Naples’ largest County park is part of the Community Foundation of Collier County’s ‘Your passion. Your Collier.’ initiative, which addresses our community’s challenges, including the changing environment, that has an impact on our local plant life. Planting native trees in our community will help preserve the beauty of Collier County, improve air quality, provide shade and support wildlife.

The Community Foundation of Collier County is investing $500,000 in its partnership with Naples Botanical Gardens to execute the arboreal aspect of the ‘Your passion. Your Collier.’ initiative.

New trees planted along Lake Avalon at Sugden Regional Park

Sugden Regional Park, located at 4284 Avalon Drive, Naples, Florida, boasts the beautiful view of Lake Avalon with one of Collier County’s only freshwater beaches. Water skiing and sailing classes for able-bodied and special needs individuals are offered throughout the year at this park and is the location of the popular Fourth of July Celebration, held every year to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month.
