As Parks and Recreation looks to the future, the opening of Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park is on the horizon. This park, located in eastern Collier County, will open in two phases. The first of which will include a community center, aquatic center, event lawn with stage, four multipurpose athletic fields, playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts and a walking path. Phase one of the project is estimated to be completed in early 2022.

“Many of our County Parks have trails for running and walking that are much more enjoyable than staying inside or running on a treadmill. Collier County Government is dedicated to preserving and enhancing our visitors’ outdoor experiences. We do this by providing a wide array of wildlife and landscapes to enjoy, and we offer participation in recreational adventures. These needed improvements could not have been done without the hard work and dedication of our parks staff,” said Dan Rodriguez, Public Services Department Head.
