Community High School of Naples issued the following announcement.
CSN students in grades 10-12 had the benefit of hearing this week from guest speaker Dr. Gregory Poland, Director of Mayo Clinic's Vaccine Research Group, a state-of-the-art research laboratory that seeks the development of novel vaccines against emerging pathogens.
He also serves as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Defense. Before presenting at the US assembly, a small group of students considering careers in health and medicine had the opportunity to interact with him on a more personal level.
He insisted that the main thing they should ask in every situation is "Why?" and hoped that they all follow through with training for these essential careers. Dr. Poland came away from both meetings impressed by our students' questions and engagement. When he left our campus, he went directly to NCH to present to local health care professionals.
