COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL OF NAPLES: A-Team Into the Quarterfinals

Naples

Community High School of Naples issued the following announcement.

In a highly competitive match, CSN defeated Charlotte High School in the A-Team Challenge Quiz Tournament. Our team won 340-260 and has now advanced to the quarterfinals! Modeled after Jeopardy, the A-Team Challenge is a single-elimination academic competition developed by The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools and NBC-2 and includes 35 schools from six SWFL counties.

They have been running this contest for over 30 years, but unlike Jeopardy, teams of four students compete. Our team consists of Gabby On-Cuen ‘20, Thomas Kralik ‘21, Nick Diamond ‘21, and Graham Murphey ‘20.

The categories of questions include Science, Math, Arts & Humanities, Language Arts, Social Studies, and General Knowledge. Our alternates, who play in the rapid-fire Lightning Round, are Mike Binkowski ‘20 and Panos Dimaras ‘21. The Lightning Round can be any topic, and the six students only have one minute to answer 10 questions. Fitting with African-American History month, our Lightning Round topic was African-American authors.

Our quarterfinal match is on April 1 and will be against the winner of Gulf Coast and Palmetto Ridge. If we win this next match, the semifinals and finals will both be aired on NBC-2 on April 15, as well as posted on YouTube.  Congratulations to our terrific A-Team for representing our school so well!
