COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL OF NAPLES: Thomas A. Edison Science and Inventors Fair 2020

Community High School of Naples issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.

On January 18, 13 fourth and fifth grade students and two freshmen participated in the Thomas A. Edison Regional Science and Inventors Fair held at FGCU.  They qualified to attend after participating at our CSN STEM Fair held in December.  All of our students presented outstanding inventions/innovations.  At the awards ceremony on Wednesday evening at Edison Park Elementary School, CSN students received 17 awards!  The awards fall under two divisions: grade level winners and special category awards based on special achievements and qualifications designated by the donors. 

The awards include:

4th Grade Level

  • 1st place   Arabella (Smart B-Pack)
  • 3rd place   Zayba and Bianca (School Supplies Binder Case)
5th Grade Level

  • 1st    Xavier (Sole X Turf)
  • 2nd   Jack (Coloring Book for the Visually Impaired)
  • 3rd   Connor (FresK)
  • 4th   Kylie (Hootie House)
  • Division winner (Xavier) will ride in the Edison Parade!
9th Grade Level

  • 3rd    Reva and Merrill (Brush 'N' Go)
Special Category Awards

IMAG Young Innovator Award:Connor
Legacy Foundation at Shell Point:Rachel (Edible Ice Cream Stick)
Humanitarian Scholarship Award:Jack
TAERSIF "Wish I Had One" Award:Connor
Argonauta Scholarship/Earthshine Environmental Award:Connor and Xavier
Imagine Solutions Conference Invitation:Xavier
Henry Ford World Invention Competition Invitation (offered to four students): Xavier
Congratulations to all these outstanding students, and a very special congratulations to CSN's LS science teacher Debi Backes, who won the Thomas A. Edison Inventors Fair 2020 Teacher of Distinction Award!
