A new poll released by The Tarrance Group found Byron Donalds leading the Florida Republican primary race for governor with 50% support among Republican primary voters, according to an April 13 announcement. All other candidates were reported to be polling in single digits.
The poll indicates that Donalds’ support has grown by four percentage points statewide since January. Notably, there was a fourteen-point increase in the Tampa Bay media market and a seven-point rise in the Panhandle.
Donalds has received endorsements from several prominent figures and groups, including President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Charlie Kirk, Elon Musk, Senator Rick Scott, most of Florida’s sheriffs, U.S. House leadership, seventeen members of Florida’s congressional delegation, and seventy-five percent of the Republican caucus in the Florida House.
According to campaign officials, these polling results follow what they describe as a record-setting fundraising period. The campaign raised more than $22 million in the first quarter of 2026—the largest amount ever collected by a non-incumbent candidate in Florida history.
Ryan Smith, Chief Strategist for the Byron Donalds for Governor Campaign said: “The majority of Florida Republicans back Byron Donalds because he is THE Trump-endorsed America First conservative who will lower costs, fight illegal immigration, and defeat the Radical Democrats in November.”
Observers will continue to watch how voter preferences develop as the election approaches.
