Byron Donalds continues to hold a strong lead over Democratic opponents in the Florida governor’s race, according to a May 15 poll released by his campaign. The survey indicates that Donalds has an eight-point advantage against Democrats David Jolly and Jerry Demings.
The results suggest growing support for Donalds as he seeks the Republican nomination and prepares for a potential general election matchup. Recent polling also shows Donalds leading the Republican primary with 54 percent, while other candidates remain in single digits.
Donalds has received endorsements from President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Charlie Kirk, Elon Musk, Senator Rick Scott, most of Florida’s sheriffs, U.S. House leadership, seventeen members of Florida’s congressional delegation, seventy-five percent of Florida House Republicans, and several national conservative figures.
The campaign attributes these polling numbers to both prominent endorsements and what it describes as a record-setting $22 million fundraising haul during the first quarter. Gates McGavick, Communications Director for the Byron Donalds for Governor Campaign said: “The numbers are clear: Byron Donalds continues his dominating lead in poll after poll because Floridians know he is THE proven America First fighter who will lower costs, uphold the rule of law, and defeat the Radical Democrats this November.”
Observers are watching closely as both polling data and fundraising totals continue to shape expectations ahead of this year’s election.
