The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, featuring former Naples High School standout Mackenzie Leiti, were defeated 9-1 by the South Florida Bulls in Wednesday’s NCAA Division I softball contest, which began at 6 p.m.

The matchup at FGCU Softball Complex marked the teams’ first meeting this season.

Leiti went 2-for-2 at the plate and added a walk.

The Eagles are set to play their next game Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at FGCU Softball Complex against the Stetson Hatters.
