Col. Allen West, executive director of the American Constitutional Rights Union and former U.S. Congressman, said the Democrat Party has moved so far left on immigration and national sovereignty that it is now facing what he called its own political demise heading into the 2026 midterms.
“We are seeing the demise of the Democrat party because they’ve gone so far left that they are undermining our national security and our national sovereignty,” West said on the Restoration Spotlight Podcast by Restoration News. “And why would you stand on the side of this issue where you want to see criminal illegal immigrants and terrorists be in this country, when we know that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris released special interest aliens from Iran back into our society? Now we have to be concerned about these terrorist sleeper sales, not only in Iran, of course, across the Middle East, and certainly from China.”
According to a Fox News poll conducted in January 2026, Republican candidates held a 15-point advantage over Democrats on border security, a 12-point advantage on national security, and a 5-point advantage on immigration, even as Democrats led the overall generic congressional ballot heading into the midterms.
West said the electoral map itself raises serious questions about the integrity of the states where Democrats have been most competitive.
“The majority of the states, maybe all of the states that Kamala Harris won, were states that did not have any sort of voter ID whatsoever,” West said.
According to Newsweek, of the 19 states Harris won in the 2024 presidential election, 18 did not require voters to show photo identification at the polls, with 12 of those states requiring no document of any kind to vote in person.
West is a 22-year Army combat veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and former U.S. Congressman who represented Florida’s 22nd District in the 112th Congress. He currently serves as Executive Director of the American Constitutional Rights Union, a constitutional conservative organization founded to counter the ACLU.
