Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates and commentary on his official Twitter account regarding events in Washington, D.C., and Southwest Florida.
On March 25, Donalds welcomed a group of young leaders to the Capitol, posting: “Thank you to the Florida Gubernatorial Fellows Class XXI for joining us today on Capitol Hill!”
Two days later, on March 27, he informed constituents about an upcoming community event in Fort Myers: “ATTENTION SWFL Tomorrow morning, my office will be hosting our annual Academy Day event at 9 AM in Fort Myers.”
Later that evening, Donalds voiced criticism of the U.S. Senate over funding decisions related to immigration enforcement. He stated: “I don’t care that the Senate’s on vacation. I don’t care about their CODELs. I don’t care about their events. They didn’t do their job. They purposely left @ICEgov child sex trafficking investigation units UNFUNDED. This package needs to be amended and sent back to the Senate.” The comments refer to congressional negotiations over federal funding packages and specific concerns regarding support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations.
Byron Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th district since 2021 after succeeding Francis Rooney. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 through 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978, Donalds currently resides in Naples and holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
