Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted his efforts to address crime in Washington, D.C. through a series of social media posts.

On August 8, 2025, Donalds shared a report from KXMB stating: “.@KXMB: ‘Byron Donalds reintroduces DC crime bill to override local council amid Trump calls’”.

The following day, on August 9, he posted another update referencing DC News Now: “.@DCNewsNow: ‘As federal officials continue to look for ways to crack down on crime in the city, now, Republican Florida Congressman Byron Donalds reintroduced his 2024 DC CRIMES Act–a bill that would grant Congressional control over DC’s sentencing policies.’ ‘It would also https://t.co/1zGrZjSb9H”.

Later that same day, Donalds cited coverage by 7NewsDC: “.@7NewsDC: ‘Following the Trump administration’s actions, there is a bill on Capitol Hill right now aimed at cracking down on DC crime. Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, he holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
