Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on his social media account between September 30 and October 1, 2025, addressing ongoing political developments and extending holiday wishes to constituents.
On September 30, Donalds criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in a tweet regarding internal Democratic Party dynamics and government funding negotiations. He wrote, “Schumer is afraid of AOC. Schumer thinks the only way to fend-off her primary challenge is if he ‘fights Trump.’ Schumer is shutting down the federal government and bringing the whole nation down with him for primary election optics. It’s that simple.”
The following day, Donalds commented on remarks by Congresswoman Maxine Waters about healthcare policy and immigration. In his post dated October 1, he stated: “America, Maxine Waters just said the quiet part out loud: 1—Democrats want hardworking Americans to pay for the healthcare of illegal aliens. 2—They still unapologetically put foreign lawbreakers first. 3—They are shutting down the government in an attempt to make this happen.”
Later that same day, Donalds addressed members of the Jewish community during a religious observance: “To our Jewish neighbors throughout our Southwest Florida community, the Sunshine State, and the nation: G’Mar Chatima Tova. Wishing you a meaningful holiday and an easy fast.”
Byron Donalds has served as U.S. Representative for Florida’s 19th District since 2021 after previously holding office in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
