Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing political and local issues.

On August 2, 2025, Donalds published a brief post stating, “1. Go Woke 2. Go Broke 3. CLOSING TIME https://t.co/PBpO2UWGH3”. The message did not specify further context but echoed a phrase often used in political discourse regarding business or policy decisions.

Three days later, on August 5, Donalds alerted residents about new state tax policy: “ATTENTION FLORIDA RESIDENTS The State of Florida has announced a ‘Permanent Sales Tax Exemption’ on select disaster preparedness supplies. For additional information on qualifying items, please visit https://t.co/CeBTZ170iJ or see below https://t.co/B3FQqPgRe2 https://t.co/Bh6KINqHAt”.

Later that day, he commented on remarks by another member of Congress: “Rep Delia Ramirez from Chicago declared she puts Guatemala before the US. She’s currently the congresswoman for 720K+ Americans & is supposed to represent their interests on Capitol Hill. Don’t run for Congress if you’re going to put another country first. This is common sense.”

Byron Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th District in Congress since 2021 after serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and now residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
