Gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds, who has received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, launched his “Defending the Florida Dream” Tour with a focus on affordability, according to an April 6 announcement.
The tour began with a policy discussion centered on lowering everyday costs for Florida families, particularly in healthcare and insurance. The event introduced Donalds’ plan called Your Doctor, Your Price, which aims to address transparency and cost concerns in the state’s healthcare system.
“Floridians deserve transparency and relief,” said Byron Donalds. “You should know what your hospital charges before you walk in the door and how fast your insurer pays before you file a claim. Your Doctor, Your Price will ensure the real price tag is going on everything when it comes to Floridians healthcare.”
Donalds’ agenda includes targeted reforms designed to reduce expenses for residents. The Your Doctor, Your Price initiative proposes that hospitals and providers publicly post real cash prices for the top 20 most common services so patients can access clear pricing information before care is provided. The plan also seeks to align Florida’s prescription drug program with Trump Rx pricing standards as a way to further cut costs and expand access.
Additional elements of the proposal include removing prior authorization requirements, eliminating surprise billing practices, and allowing patients greater freedom in choosing any licensed provider within the state.
“This is about more than policy, it’s about peace of mind,” Donalds added. “It’s about delivering commonsense solutions that lower costs, increase choice, and make healthcare more affordable for Florida families and seniors across the state. That’s how we Defend the Florida Dream.”
The tour will continue throughout Florida over the coming weeks with additional events planned around public safety, education, and economic opportunity.
