Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on his official social media account concerning community safety initiatives and emergency alerts.

On July 29, 2025, Donalds shared details from a local educational event: “Thank you to all who joined us at the Bonita Springs Library for our Spotting Scams Workshop, hosted alongside regional FBI partners. Scams can be life-altering but are easily preventable & we must remain vigilant. This was the 3rd event of our Community Workshop Summer Series.”

Later that evening, he issued an urgent warning regarding seismic activity affecting the Pacific region. On July 30, he wrote: “ATTENTION ALASKA, HAWAII, & THE WEST COAST

1—An 8.7 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Russia

2—Tsunami alerts have been issued

3—Visit https://t.co/Ry4Ki8Tp6z for up-to-date information & guidance

4—Follow @NWS_NTWC & your regional @NWS office for alerts”

Shortly after this message, Donalds addressed individuals currently in Hawaii with additional evacuation guidance: “ARE YOU VISITING HAWAII?

Evacuations are underway and take action now to leave immediately.

Evacuation routes are often marked by signs containing a wave with an arrow in the direction of higher ground.”

Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. He succeeded Francis Rooney as representative for Florida’s 19th district and resides in Naples. Born in Brooklyn in 1978, Donalds is also an alumnus of both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
