Byron Donalds, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, held a public safety roundtable in Melbourne on April 7 as part of his “Defending the Florida Dream” tour. The event featured Sheriff Wayne Ivey and Florida House Majority Leader Tyler Sirois and focused on strengthening public safety across the state.
The discussion addressed issues related to law enforcement support and community safety. Donalds presented his “Zero Tolerance” agenda, which aims to keep Florida communities secure. He said, “Florida must remain a law-and-order state. That means backing our law enforcement, enforcing the law, and making it clear that taxpayer-funded benefits are for citizens ONLY. Every dollar collected from Florida taxpayers should go toward strengthening our communities, supporting our seniors, and investing in the people who follow the law, not subsidizing those who break it.”
Donalds’ platform calls for reserving taxpayer-funded benefits for citizens and legal residents only. It also includes requiring full cooperation between state agencies and federal immigration authorities as well as banning sanctuary policies without exceptions.
Donalds has received endorsements from several prominent figures including President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Charlie Kirk, Elon Musk, Senator Rick Scott, most Florida sheriffs, U.S. House leadership members, 17 members of Florida’s congressional delegation, and more than three-quarters of the Republican caucus in the Florida House.
“As Governor, I will ensure full cooperation between state and federal authorities and make sure every level of government is accountable. In Florida, the rule of law isn’t optional; it’s the foundation of our safe, strong, and prosperous state,” said Donalds.
The Melbourne stop followed Monday’s kickoff event where Donalds introduced his “Your Doctor, Your Price” plan aimed at reducing healthcare costs for families in Florida. The ongoing tour will include additional events focusing on public safety measures as well as education initiatives and expanding economic opportunities.
