Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his official Twitter account in early May highlighting the importance of small businesses, healthcare access, and nurses within local communities.
On May 4, Donalds marked National Small Business Week by urging support for local enterprises. In his post he stated: “Happy National Small Business Week! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: our small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy & the focal point of our communities. Make it a priority to shop small, not just this week, but all year long.”
Two days later, on May 6, Donalds reported on his team’s participation at a new healthcare facility opening. He wrote: “My team had the honor of attending the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Healthcare Network Van Domelen Community Health Center this morning. This facility is essential in bringing high-quality healthcare to 41,000+ residents in an area that has historically”
That same day, Donalds also recognized National Nurses Day with appreciation for frontline medical workers. He posted: “Happy National Nurses Day! To all of the nurses who proudly serve on the frontlines of our communities to keep our loved ones safe: you are the backbone of our healthcare system, and your commitment does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your service!”
Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th district since 2021 after succeeding Francis Rooney. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
