Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 23, 2026, outlining his recent legislative actions and positions regarding vehicle “kill switches” and federal funding for certain healthcare services.

In a tweet posted at 15:25 UTC, Donalds stated: “Kill switches give government the ability to shut-off your car at their discretion. They are Orwellian, wrong, and must be stopped. That’s why last night, I voted to defund this travesty. Instead of helping us pass the amendment, 57 Republicans joined 211 Democrats to block us.” He included a link to further details about the vote.

One minute later, Donalds followed up with another post providing information for constituents interested in congressional voting records: “See how your member of Congress voted here: https://t.co/KGqoGU5Oc8”.

At 15:38 UTC on the same day, Donalds addressed federal spending related to gender-affirming care and abortion services. He wrote: “See some of the radical gender funding that I voted to defund here:

$3 MILLION to Denver Health & Hospital Authority to provide transgender surgeries.

$4 MILLION+ to Christiana Care to perform late-term abortions up to 23 weeks.

$3 MILLION+ to Hennepin Healthcare to operate a”

Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney and previously represented his community in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 through 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978, he now resides in Naples. Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
