Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, has recently highlighted legislative efforts to address rising flood insurance costs for Americans through a series of posts on social media.

On July 23, 2025, Donalds shared a statement from MyNews13: “.@MyNews13: ‘Florida Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody are introducing legislation to give relief to Americans dealing with rising flood insurance costs. Later that day, he posted another update quoting WEAR-TV: “.@weartv: ‘Florida lawmakers, working on an effort on Capitol Hill to get some tax relief for flood insurance policyholders. Donalds also cited NEWSMAX coverage regarding his sponsorship of the House companion bill H.R. 4494 – The Flood Insurance Relief Act: “.@NEWSMAX: ‘Congressman Byron Donalds, speaking of that area, is sponsoring the companion bill in the House [H.R. 4494 – The Flood Insurance Relief Act.]’

Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021. He previously represented his community in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
