Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of updates on legislative actions and policy proposals via his official Twitter account.

On September 4, 2025, Donalds called for changes to federal disaster relief coordination. In his post, he stated: “Ensuring direct, coordinated action between the President of the United States & the Governor of an impacted state is how we can best deliver disaster relief to the American people. FEMA must be overhauled. FEMA should report to @POTUS, not @DHSgov. Our bill does just that.”

The following day, on September 5, 2025, Donalds highlighted House passage of new legislation targeting fentanyl trafficking from China. He wrote: “ICYMI: This week, the House PASSED HR 747 – The Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act of 2025, with a vote of 407-4. This important piece of legislation will hold the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliates accountable for manufacturing and distributing deadly fentanyl coming from China.”

Later that same day, Donalds reported on another House vote concerning energy and infrastructure funding: “ICYMI: This week, the House PASSED HR 4553 – The Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2026, with a vote of 214-213. This important legislation will cement American energy dominance, improve infrastructure, and strengthen our national security.”

Byron Donalds has served in Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples at age 44, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
