Donalds has been an active political figure, previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.

On March 11, 2025, Congressman Byron Donalds reported that “Tonight, @HouseGOP passed various border security bills including: HR 495–Requires recurring annual report by @CBP on plans to counter illicit cross-border tunnels. HR 993–Requires @CBP/@DHSgov to develop a plan to identify and deploy innovative tech to improve border security.” These bills aim to enhance national security by addressing issues related to cross-border tunnels and improving technological deployment for border protection.

Later that day, Donalds highlighted the impact of pests in Florida by acknowledging the contributions of the Florida Pest Management Association during their visit to Capitol Hill. He expressed gratitude in his tweet stating, “There are few states in the nation more affected by pests than Florida. Thank you to the members of the Florida Pest Management Association who joined us this morning on Capitol Hill. Together, we discussed agricultural, environmental & public health issues affecting our state.”

Concluding his updates for the day, Congressman Donalds celebrated the signing into law of HR 5103 – “The FISHES Act.” On January 4, 2025, this bill was enacted by presidential signature. Donalds shared that “On January 4, 2025, my bill, HR 5103 – ‘The FISHES Act’ was signed into law by the President. HR 5103 expedites the delivery of much-needed fishery disaster relief to coastal communities. Today, we received the pen & signed copy of this monumental win for the people of Florida.” The legislation is designed to facilitate prompt aid delivery for fishery-related disasters affecting coastal areas.
