Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on September 3 and 4, 2025, highlighting workforce readiness at Florida International University (FIU), the honoring of the Harlem Hellfighters with a Congressional Gold Medal, and changes at the Department of Health and Human Services under Secretary Kennedy.
On September 3, Donalds wrote about higher education and innovation: “We must ensure that our college graduates are prepared to join the workforce and @FIU is leading the way with innovative research and development. Thank you to my friend, current @FIU President and former Florida Lieutenant Governor @JeanetteNunezFL for stopping by Capitol Hill.”
Later that day, he recognized military history: “The Harlem Hellfighters were an African American infantry regiment from New York that was known for their service in WWI. Today, these heroic men were posthumously honored with a Congressional Gold Medal. We will never forget their bravery and sacrifice on behalf of our nation.”
In a tweet dated September 4, Donalds commented on leadership at the Department of Health and Human Services: “Under Biden, @HHSGov was a mess. @SecKennedy is doing a great job. He is dismantling bureaucracy. He is eliminating corruption. He is Making America Healthy Again. We are undergoing a health revolution thanks to his leadership & I wish him all the best tomorrow in @SenFinance.”
Byron Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th District in Congress since 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978, he now resides in Naples and holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
