Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district and has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021, recently shared several updates on his official Twitter account. These tweets highlight both legislative progress and historical reflections.
On June 9, 2025, Congressman Donalds expressed gratitude towards various members of the House for their support of a resolution. He thanked “@TransportGOP Chairman @RepSamGraves for your advancement of this resolution.” Additionally, he acknowledged the efforts of “@SpeakerJohnson, House leadership, and @HouseGOP co-sponsors: @RepBurgessOwens, @RepWPH, and @RepJames for your support of H.Res.137.”
In another tweet on the same day, Donalds shared a historical note about Frederick Douglass. He mentioned that “After his Rochester home was destroyed in a suspected arson attack, he moved to Washington, D.C. and became editor — and later owner — of the New National Era.” The publication was significant for chronicling Black progress across the nation. He also noted that “Douglass was the first Black reporter admitted to the Capitol.”
Furthermore, Congressman Donalds extended his appreciation to Democratic colleagues for their bipartisan efforts regarding legislation. On June 9, 2025, he thanked “@TransportDems Ranking Member @RepRickLarsen and Democrat co-sponsors @RepAndreCarson, and @RepHorsford for your bipartisan support of this common sense legislation.”
Byron Donalds has served in Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, he holds degrees from Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
