Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida’s 19th district, recently shared a series of updates on social media. His posts touched on support for small business owners, community preparedness for natural disasters, and a centenarian celebration honoring a local hero.
On June 17, 2025, Congressman Donalds emphasized the importance of supporting small business owners, whom he referred to as “the backbone of our economy.” He expressed gratitude to members of the National Federation of Independent Business in Florida (NFIB_FL) for joining discussions in the nation’s capital regarding business ownership and operations within Southwest Florida and beyond. “Small business owners are the backbone of our economy and they must be supported.”
Later that day, Congressman Donalds acknowledged efforts made by various community leaders during a Hurricane-Prep Community Workshop. The event was aimed at readiness for future storms in Southwest Florida. He thanked Chief John Schultz, Chief Seth Comer, Deputy Operations Chief Khalid Aquil, and Sergeant Sarah Rodriguez for their contributions to the workshop. “Together we stand ready for when the next storm arrives in SWFL.”
In another post from June 17, Congressman Donalds celebrated the 100th birthday of Lt. Ernie Kunz from Bonita Springs. Describing Lt. Kunz as an American hero who has served honorably and exemplifies the best qualities of their community, Donalds mentioned his team presented Lt. Kunz with a challenge coin and birthday card during the celebration. “Happy 100th birthday to Lt. Ernie Kunz of Bonita Springs.”
Byron Donalds has been serving in Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.
