Congressman Byron Donalds, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 19th district since 2021, shared a series of tweets addressing recent legislative actions and social issues. Donalds replaced former U.S. Congress member Francis Rooney and has previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.
On May 22, 2025, Donalds announced that the House GOP passed “The One Big Beautiful Bill”, aimed at codifying President Trump’s America First agenda into law. The bill seeks to make Trump Tax Cuts permanent, eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, incentivize Made-In-America products, and initiate what is described as the largest deportation effort in history.
Later that day, he expressed support for educational reform by joining “The Universal School Choice Act”. This initiative aims to provide parents with more choices and children with better opportunities despite a Supreme Court deadlock on the issue. Donalds emphasized the importance of ensuring academic freedom through comprehensive School Choice provisions.
In another tweet posted on May 22, Congressman Donalds addressed rising anti-Semitic incidents based on data from Fox News. He highlighted that such incidents are “UP 5% since 2023,” “UP 344% since 2020,” and “UP 893% since 2015.” He condemned these increases as reaching epidemic levels and called for solidarity with Jewish communities across Florida and the nation.
Byron Donalds was born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently resides in Naples. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
