Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida’s 19th district since 2021, has been vocal on social media regarding various political issues. Born in Brooklyn, New York City in 1978, Donalds now resides in Naples and has a background in finance and insurance before entering politics. His recent tweets address topics ranging from government efficiency to nuclear energy and political accountability.
On July 8, 2025, Congressman Donalds expressed his views on the state of federal agencies. He stated that these agencies are “BLOATED,” “WASTEFUL,” “INEFFICIENT,” and have been “POLITICIZED” for too long. He highlighted a Supreme Court decision that overruled a California judge’s ruling, allowing the Trump administration to continue efforts to improve agency efficiency. “JUST NOW: The Supreme Court overruled a radical CA judge to let the Trump admin continue to CLEAN-HOUSE and increase efficiency at agencies.”
Later that day, Donalds shared his support for nuclear energy development under the Trump administration. Quoting Secretary Wright, he tweeted about the anticipated growth of nuclear energy, describing it as a “nuclear renaissance.” He emphasized his role as a supporter of this initiative alongside the Department of Energy. “.@SecretaryWright: ‘Under the Trump administration, you’re gonna see truly the launch of the nuclear renaissance. It will be huge in the coming years.’
On July 9, 2025, Donalds commented on Dr. Kevin O’Connor’s appearance before GOP oversight for a closed-door deposition regarding President Biden’s health disclosures. According to Donalds, Dr. O’Connor invoked his Fifth Amendment rights during questioning due to his alleged involvement in misleading the public about Biden’s health status. “Dr. Kevin O’Connor was President Biden’s physician…Today, he was called into @GOPoversight for a closed door deposition and he PLEADED THE 5TH.”
Byron Donalds holds degrees from Florida A&M University and Florida State University and served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020 before joining Congress.
