Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, shared his views on immigration and foreign relations through a series of tweets. Serving since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney, Donalds has been vocal about various issues affecting the nation.
On June 12, 2025, Congressman Donalds criticized the Biden-Harris administration for allowing “an invasion of 10-20M unvetted illegal aliens into the US.” He stated that it is “@ICEgov’s responsibility to deport them” and pointed out that “@GovTimWalz referred to ICE as the ‘GESTAPO.'” He argued that such rhetoric contributes to unrest and is why “AMERICA REJECTED HIM.” The original tweet can be found here.
The following day, June 13, 2025, Donalds addressed fiscal concerns regarding sanctuary policies in Illinois. He noted that “IL is a SANCTUARY STATE,” criticizing Governor Pritzker for not knowing the financial implications of these policies on taxpayers. He further mentioned that Chicago is a sanctuary city where leaders also lack this knowledge. His comments suggest that Illinois leaders are indifferent to taxpayer spending on individuals he believes should not be in the country. The tweet is available here.
Later on June 13, Donalds expressed his honor in addressing the Senate Foreign Relations Committee regarding Stacey Feinberg’s nomination as the next U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg. He thanked several senators for facilitating this nominations hearing, including @SenatorRisch and @SteveDaines among others from the Europe Subcommittee. This acknowledgment reflects his involvement in diplomatic matters beyond domestic issues. The full post can be accessed here.
