Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on February 9, 2026, advocating for voter ID requirements and changes to federal election laws.

In his first post at 16:08 UTC, Donalds stated, “DID YOU KNOW: 83% of Americans support Voter ID requirements, including 95% of Republicans, & 71% of Democrats. Voter ID is not only widely popular, IT’S COMMON SENSE. It’s time for Congress to: 1–Eliminate the filibuster 2–Pass the Save America Act 3–Ensure election integrity”.

Later that day at 18:02 UTC, he continued by highlighting international practices: “Voter ID is widely popular, it is the global standard for election integrity, and it is simply common sense. Here are just a few of the countries around the world that utilize Voter ID requirements: Argentina Austria Bahrain Bangladesh Belgium Bhutan Bolivia”.

At 18:22 UTC on the same day, Donalds referenced voting procedures in Minnesota: “In Minnesota, ONE registered voter can vouch for up to EIGHT persons without an ID. This is absurd. It’s time to end the fraud. It’s time for election integrity. It’s time to PASS THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.”

Byron Donalds has represented Florida’s 19th District in Congress since 2021 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. He was born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently resides in Naples. Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
