Congressman Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 22, 2026, criticizing former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for allegedly defying subpoenas and calling for criminal referrals.
In his first tweet at 01:01 UTC, Donalds wrote: “Bill Clinton defied a subpoena. Hillary defied a subpoena. But Democrats want to give them special treatment. As Hillary put it ‘no one is above the law’ & that includes the Clintons. This is why I voted to hold them in CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS. It’s time for CRIMINAL REFERRALS.”
A few minutes later, at 01:08 UTC, he posted another message quoting Hillary Clinton: ‘”One of the first principles of our republic is that no one is above the law.” – Hillary Clinton ***Defies lawful subpoena from @GOPoversight*** Like Hillary said, no one is above the law. House floor vote incoming.’
Donalds also addressed election legislation in a third tweet at 01:16 UTC: “The SAVE Act ensures ONLY US CITIZENS can vote in US elections. LAST YEAR–@HouseGOP PASSED The SAVE Act, but Senate Dems blocked us. 286 DAYS AGO–@HouseGOP PASSED The SAVE Act again, but it is held-up in the Senate. I agree with @SenMcCormickPA. It’s time to PASS THE SAVE ACT!”
Byron Donalds has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, New York City in 1978 and currently resides in Naples. Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
