U.S. Representative Byron Donalds, who represents Florida’s 19th district in Congress, has introduced the Flood Insurance Relief Act, according to a series of statements posted on his official social media account on July 23, 2025.
Donalds first cited WLRN, posting “.@WLRN: ‘The Flood Insurance Relief Act…give[s] Americans a non-refundable tax deduction on flood insurance premiums paid through the National Flood Insurance Program or private insurers. U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds…introduced the same bill in the House.'” (July 23, 2025).
He later referenced Politico coverage: “.@politico: ‘Rep. BYRON DONALDS introduced a bill Tuesday that would allow people to deduct flood insurance premiums from their taxable income. The Flood Insurance Relief Act was also introduced on the Senate side, by GOP Sens. RICK SCOTT and ASHLEY MOODY of Florida…'” (July 23, 2025).
In a third post that day, Donalds quoted Florida Politics: “.@Fla_Pol: The Flood Insurance Relief Act ‘is designed to ease the financial toll stemming from flood insurance costs that have been increasing in recent years. Rep. Byron Donalds, a Naples Republican, is introducing a companion bill in the House.'” (July 23, 2025).
Byron Donalds has served as U.S. Representative for Florida’s 19th District since 2021 after replacing Francis Rooney and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020. Born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently residing in Naples, Donalds holds degrees from both Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
