Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida’s 19th district, shared his thoughts on recent developments through a series of tweets. The posts addressed environmental issues and legislative achievements in the U.S. Congress.
On June 9, 2025, Congressman Donalds criticized what he perceives as contradictions in environmental advocacy. He stated: “LEFTISTS: Claimed they cared so much about the environment that the world would end if we didn’t pass a multi-trillion-dollar Socialist takeover of the US economy. ALSO LEFTISTS: Burn electric cars in support of criminal illegal aliens, releasing hundreds of toxins into the air.”
Later that day, Donalds announced a legislative success with bipartisan support. He tweeted at 23:06 UTC about the passage of his resolution by voice vote: “JUST NOW: The House PASSED my resolution, H.Res.137 – ‘The Bipartisan Frederick Douglass Press Gallery Renaming Resolution’ by unanimous, bipartisan, voice vote.” He highlighted Frederick Douglass’s historical significance as “the first Black reporter admitted to the press gallery.”
In another tweet posted simultaneously at 23:06 UTC, Donalds provided additional context on Frederick Douglass’s life and legacy. He wrote: “Frederick Douglass was born into slavery in 1818. After courageously escaping bondage in 1838, he built a life dedicated to truth, liberty, and justice.” This tweet underscores Douglass’s contributions to journalism and social justice.
Byron Donalds has been serving in Congress since replacing Francis Rooney in 2021 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.
