Congressman Byron Donalds, representing Florida’s 19th district since 2021, has been vocal about the critical importance of restoring the Everglades. In a series of tweets on June 17, 2025, he highlighted the bipartisan nature and significance of this environmental initiative.
In his first tweet, Donalds emphasized the collaborative efforts for Everglades restoration by stating “The restoration of the Everglades is bipartisan and beyond critical.” He expressed his honor in joining the Everglades Foundation at the United States Capitol for discussions with Representative Moskowitz and other stakeholders during “America’s Everglades Summit.”
Later that day, Donalds reiterated the far-reaching impact of not completing the restoration project. He stated “If we don’t get Everglades restoration done, it affects EVERYONE in S Florida.” He linked this issue to economic factors, fresh drinking water availability, and ecosystem health, underscoring its common-sense necessity for both Florida and the nation.
In a subsequent post, Donalds acknowledged President Biden’s financial commitment to this cause. He tweeted “Thank you @POTUS for recommending that $446M of the FY26 budget is allocated for Everglades restoration.” He noted that this recommendation marks the largest presidential budget allocation ever made for this purpose.
Byron Donalds was born in Brooklyn in 1978 and currently resides in Naples. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2016 to 2020.
